In November 2020, Jan Koura published an article in the influential journal Intelligence and National Security (INS) on the cooperation of Moroccan opposition politician Mehdi Ben Barka with Czechoslovak intelligence in the context of StB activities in the Third World during the Cold War.  Based on this text and an interview with Dr. Koura, an article was published in the British Guardian in late December 2021. The content of the article was subsequently picked up by dozens of foreign websites, such as the French Libération and the Greek Protagon.

Following the Guardian article, Dr Koura gave several further interviews relating to the original INS article and his research. Specifically, these included interviews with the Moroccan mediaTelquel, Le Desk and Maroc Hebdo, which even devoted an entire current issue to the topic.
